you'll notice that my photographs are super casual and candid.  my goal is to catch children at their best, in everyday moments that are natural, comfortable, and sincere.  i prefer to photograph children in their own homes or outside, rather than in a stiff studio environment.  it's more fun for everyone, i think.  it's hard for children to be themselves while holding awkward props in front of a backdrop. 

studio photographs are great for what they are, but i like to approach children's portraiture from another angle.  my photographs stand out because they are highly artistic and skillfully composed, without being too serious or contrived. children are funny, and you can see that in the pictures i take.  i like artsier shots, close-ups, vibrant color, high contrast, and interesting or unusual composition.  as you'll see, i'm not so much a say-cheese kind of photographer.  i like to spend time with the children, get to know them a little, make them laugh.  it's a simple thought, i know, but it's clear that you get a better picture of a child who trusts you!  my photographs have a special kind of intimacy and warmth to them because i try to capture key moments while being as unobtrusive as possible.
